Google Fast Flip – Fastest Way to Read Customized News Online

Google Fast Flip is an online news aggregator web application that lets users discover and share news articles. It was launched in beta by Google Labs. Fast Flip provides a new reading experience that combines qualities of print and the Web. Like a print magazine, Fast Flip lets you browse sequentially through bundles of recent news, headlines and popular topics, as well as feeds from individual top publishers. As the name suggests, flipping through content is very fast, so you can quickly look through a lot of pages until you find something interesting. At the same time, Google provide aggregation and search over many top newspapers and magazines, and the ability to share content with your friends and community.

Google Fast Flip presents images of stories from Google’s news partners, which can be clicked on to navigate to the story on the news provider’s own website. Stories can be scrolled between using the mouse or cursor keys.

Fast Flip also personalizes the experience for you, by taking cues from selections you make to show you more content from sources, topics and journalists that you seem to like. In short, you get fast browsing, natural magazine-style navigation, recommendations from friends and other members of the community and a selection of content that is personalized.

To build Fast Flip, Google partnered with three dozen top publishers in U.S., including the New York Times, the Atlantic, the Washington Post, Salon, Fast Company and Newsweek. Now there are approximately 98 news partners, full list available here. Google hope to add more publishers in the future. Google says it will share the majority of revenue from contextual adverts with its news partners.

Gaikai CEO says streaming PC game service will launch in about 60 days

While the OnLive streaming PC game service has been on and, well, live for much of the summer one of its biggest rivals is prepping for its own launch. The Alistdaily.com web site reports claims from Gaikai's CEO Dave Perry that its service will launch in about 60 days.

As we have reported before the "launch" of Gaikai will actually use free game demos with the full game streaming to be made available in 2011. OnLive, however is already streaming a number of full games to its customers. Perry, however, slammed OnLive, claiming that its system of three service centers handling the entire US is "impossible". Perry said Gaikai will launch with 15 servers with plans to increase the amount to 50 servers.

Free Web Clipping Tools: Permanently Save Anything That You Find On The Internet

web clipping note taking software

With billions of web pages around, keeping track of information that you discover on the web is extremely tough. Some of us rely on bookmarks but they are unmanageable and become useless over time when the underlying pages disappear because the website structure may have changed.
If your bookmark folder is also getting obese, switch to any of these web clipping tools – they help you capture and save anything from the Internet including text notes, images, complete web pages, documents, PDFs, etc.
So even if the source website is gone, you will never feel lost again.
Microsoft Onfolio – Onfolio is an outstanding note taking application that lets you collect information from web pages as well as all other Windows programs (like Excel, Outlook, Notepad, etc) so you have a central repository of all content captured from websites, emails, screenshots and documents.
onfolio note takingOnfolio provides some very unique features. For instance, you can capture complete websites or single web pages in their entirety including CSS, Javascripts and images so the captured web page looks the same even in offline mode. Onfolio can also download PDF files and Microsoft Office documents from the web with a simple click.
You can also assign colored flags to captured content. The tool is integrated with Windows Live Writer and all popular blog services so you can quickly publish scrapped content onto your blog with proper attribution to the original source.
A limiting point is that Onfolio stores all the content to your local hard drive and so you may not have access to your web research on another computer. You can however export web clipping as compressed web pages (MHT) and share them via email attachments.
Onfolio can either run as a standalone desktop application or as a sidebar in Internet Explorer provided you have installed Windows Live Toolbar. Other commercial alternatives to Onfolio include Microsoft OneNote and EverNote.
Clipmarks – Working like a pair of scissors, Clipmarks is a very innovative web based software for clipping snippets from web pages, images and even YouTube videos – you place the mouse cursor over a portion you want to save, Clipmarks will then intelligently draw a logical boundary surrounding that snippet and a click will put a copy of that portion to your online Clipmarks account.
clipped websites
This is a perfect solution for grabbing specific portions of any web page that matter the most to you – it could be a video on YouTube, contact address of a friend, a quote on Wikipedia or anything else. And Clipmark will always include  a link to the original source so you always know the origin of your clippings. For IE, Firefox and Flock.
ToRead and InstaPaper – You discover an interesting web page but do not have the time to read it. So you either save the URL of that page to your Browser bookmarks or store it in del.icio.us with the tags "follow" or "toread".
unread web pagesNow this methods involves some effort so you want to try toread or instapaper for keeping up with unread web pages – both services are dead simple but extremely useful. You neither have to type anything nor open any new windows.
With toread, a click will send a full copy of the current web page to your email address. In case of Instapaper, the address of the current web page is captured to your online instapaper account so you have a instant list of unread pages.
Google Notebook – If you want quick access to all your web research while on the move, Google Notebook is the only decent choice. This online web clipping tool from Google is available for IE, Firefox and they also have a version for mobile phones so you can take notes from your iPhone or BlackBerry.
One of the most useful features in Google Notebook is the integration with Google Web search. You can save any search result to online Google Notebook by clicking the Note Thislink that appears next to every search result on Google.com.
Google Notebook Web Clippings
The sharing features in Google Notebook are also impressive. You can publish certain notebooks as public so anyone (including search engine bots) can read your web clips like a regular web page. Alternatively, you can invite friends or family members to work together on a particular notebook. Nice option if you want to do some collaborative research for a group project or an upcoming vacation.
Google Notebook are currently not supported on Apple Safari or Opera.
With any of these tools on your system, there’s little probability that you will ever loose touch with important stuff you ever discovered on the Internet.
Iterasi is another promising tool for clipping web pages but it’s in closed beta. Also check outRipt for ripping text and images from web pages and converting them into scrapbook.

Convert PDF Documents to SWF Flash Movies Online with PDFMeNot

convert pdf swf flash
Like Scibd and SlideShare, PDFMeNot is an online PDF to Flash converter that will instantly convert any Adobe PDF document into a Macromedia Flash (SWF) movie while preserving the original layout, image graphics and formatting.
The PDF to SWF converter can very useful when you have to embed PDF files in web pages for inline viewing or you want to read PDF files on a computer that has no Acrobat Reader.
Here’s how to create Flash movies from PDF documents:
1. Go to PDFMeNot.com (Username: stateless Password: systems) and type the URL of the PDF file – you can use this PDF link as an example. Alternatively upload a PDF from the local hard drive.
2. In your Firefox menu bar, click Tools -> Page Info -> Media. Select the object that has an SWF extension (e.g. pdfmenot.com/store/f6a29535da98cd1.swf)  and save it to your disk. That’s the SWF file created from your PDF document. For IE, here’s the trick to save Flashlocally.
Bloggers can embed the following JS code in their web templates and PDF links will open in Flash SWF format via PDFMeNot.
While PDFMeNot is an extremely convenient option for quickly viewing PDF files in the browser without loading Adobe Reader, the downside is that the generated SWF objects contains Zoom but no Print and Search function. They are all supported in Macromedia Flash Paper format used by Scribd. Thanks Marshall.

Translate Hindi Text to English with Google Translation Online

Google Translation tool has added support for Hindi, the official language of India. Google earlier introduced the English to Hindi Transliterator feature in Blogger that lets user type Hindi characters on a web page using the English keyboard.
With this new feature, you can easily translate documents, web pages, email messages and other text written in Hindi to English language instantly for free. And it works both ways so you may also use the same translation tool for converting English text to Hindi Devanagri script as well.

If you encounter a web page in Google Search results that’s written in Hindi, Google adds a “Translate this page” link next to the page so that you can directly read the Hindi page in English via the Google Translate tool.
And if you are not sure about the language of text, you can use free language identification tools to determine the name of the language that has been used to write that text.
Here’s the BBC Hindi website converted to English (हिंदी से अंग्रेजी | अंग्रेजी से हिंदी) using Google Translate. Though it’s a machine based translation, the results are fairly accurate.

I am now as admin on http://www.netrdx.com/ oresents a more trick today to you .....
free online magazines
This is a very simple & non-geeky trick to help you read the latest issue of popular magazines like PC Magazine, MIT Technology Review, Popular Mechanics, MacWorld, Lonely Planet, Reader’s Digest, etc without paying any subscription charges.

Free Website Building Tools That Are Good Replacements for Google Page Creator

Google Page Creator Alternatives

Google Page Creator is awesome – anyone can build a good looking website in minutes using the built-in templates or they can write pages externally (say in Dreamweaver) and upload them to Creator.
And everything is free – there are no ads on your pages and Google takes care of all the web hosting bills. But as they say, all good things come to an end, and so is Google Page Creator getting replaced by Google Sites.

Compare Google Sites with Google Page Creator

While Google Sites and Google Pages have common feature (like the WYSIWYG AJAX editor), they are still quite different. For instance, you can’t upload HTML pages to Google Sites and are therefore limited to using one of the built-in themes for your site design.
The second issue is that if you make a Google Site public, the associated ‘site activity log’ also becomes public – most website publisher will have reservations sharing this data with unknown visitors. Lastly, all external hyperlinks are ‘nofollow’ if that means anything to you.

Free Alternatives to Google Page Creator

Here’s a roundup of some website building services that are free and non-technical.
1. Office Live Small Business – While the name may suggest that the service is only for small business owners, just about anyone can create their website here.
